Bushcraft for Women and Non-Binary Folks | Adult Workshop

  • The Guelph Outdoor School 733 Stone Road East Guelph, ON, N1E 3J3 Canada (map)

Registration for this workshop opens on Friday, August 29th at 9 am.

Join us for an empowering and hands-on experience on the land! This Bushcraft skills workshop offers a supportive, celebratory space to connect with nature and learn essential land-based skills. Whether you're a complete beginner or have some experience, we'll guide you through the basics of bushcraft, from fire-starting to foraging and knot-tying. This workshop is designed to thoughtfully build and expand on our first Bushcraft workshop in spring 2025, but no prior experience is necessary and you don’t need to have attended the spring session.

You’ll learn how to identify edible and utilitarian plants in the fall season; handle tools like axes, knives and fire starting tools; techniques and materials for making fire; and fundamentals of shelter building in wild spaces. You'll also have the opportunity to practice cooking food on an open fire, as we prepare and share a seasonal snack from local wild ingredients.

Session price: $85 +HST. If cost is a barrier, please see our Economics for a Changing World page for sliding-scale options and select a coupon code that meets your financial needs.

This workshop is not just about “surviving in the wild." It's about reclaiming space as women, trans and non-binary folks in nature, learning in community, and gaining new perspectives on relating to the land. Come ready to get your hands dirty, and enjoy a day of adventure, skill-building and celebration.
